During a Reiki session, the practitioner, as an attuned person, channels the universal life-force energy and transfers it through his or her palms to the recipient (“laying-on hands” or “palm-healing” technique).
A session can either be hands-on, where the practitioner applies a light touch on certain points of the recipient, or hands-off, where the practitioner holds his or her hands slightly above the body, if a client prefers not to be touched.
Through the “laying-on hands” technique, energy flow is stimulated, which can cause the recipient to feel sensations like warmth, tingling or pulsation.
Reiki energy knows which areas of the body most need healing and automatically flows to specific areas where suffering or imbalance are prevalent.
The client remains fully clothed, and is either laying on a massage table, sitting comfortably in a chair or standing.
A Reiki treatment generally lasts between 45 and 90 minutes, depending on the specific needs of the client.
Reiki is not associated with any religion and people of all faiths and beliefs can practice and receive Reiki!
Reiki therapy is not intended to replace professional medical care.
